Why Israel’s Border Wall Effective?

President Trump met with Democratic congressional leaders, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday. They got into a heated argument prior to their meeting on the $5 billion border wall budget discussion, ending with the president declaring he would be “proud” to shut down parts of the government if it results in a border wall.

…..I look forward to my meeting with Chuck Schumer & Nancy Pelosi. In 2006, Democrats voted for a Wall, and they were right to do so. Today, they no longer want Border Security. They will fight it at all cost, and Nancy must get votes for Speaker. But the Wall will get built…— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) 2018年12月11日

Nancy Pelosi stated, “most of us, speaking for myself, consider the wall immoral, ineffective…”

Trump often refers to Israel’s boarder wall how it is effective. Let’s take a look on Israel’s border wall in detail. It seems combination of the wall and legislation makes the border security effective according to the statistics.

Here are historical data of illegal immigrants entered into Israel.

As you can see, in 2013, there is a significant drop on the number because:

☑️ Egyptian border wall was completed (153 miles)
☑️ New legislation to prevent illegal immigrants transferring remittances to overseas
☑️ New legislation to require employers of illegal immigrants to deposit 20% of their salary in a government fund
☑️ Offering $3.5K cash & a plane ticket to return to their home

Actually similar situation can been seen in the U.S. as well. The U.S. congress passed the Secure Fence Act in 2006. Since then, Southern border apprehension numbers have been significantly dropped. See below table.
